What is air charter? When you charter an aircraft, all the seats belong to you and your party. As opposed to buying a ticket on a scheduled carrier, air charter allows you to set your own schedule. What are the advantages of a private charter? The main advantages of a private charter are convenience, service, fun (limos are better than buses, no?) and many times in the Caribbean, there is no other easy way to get where you're going. Fly BVI isn't late, we don't overbook and we have never lost a bag. Why is air charter expensive? It isn't really, if you remember that you have chartered all the seats on the aircraft. If you fill all the seats on your charter (or even most of them), you will find that the price per seat is not that much higher than the scheduled carriers. And you have the convenience, extra service and enjoyment of flying in your own aircraft on your own schedule. Is it safe?Yes. Reputable air charter companies have an excellent safety record. We are under the jurisdiction of the Federal Aviation Administration. We train our pilots and maintain our aircraft to the strict standards of the Air Carrier Rules of the United States Federal Aviation Regulations. How can I check whether an air charter company is reputable?Call the Federal Aviation Administration Flight Standards District Office for the region where the charter will originate. The Caribbean is served by the San Juan FSDO which can be reached at (787) 764-2538. How old are the pilots?Age isn't really the issue with pilots as there are great pilots of all ages. All Fly BVI pilots meet the rigorous experience and training standards of the Air Carrier Regulations and are given additional judgement training in accordance with the precepts of Cockpit Resource Management. Fly BVI pilots receive a complete physical exam from an FAA medical examiner every six months. How old is Fly BVI?Fly BVI has been in business since 1992. Why does the charter company need to know passenger and baggage weight? The aircraft used by Fly BVI (nine passenger seats or less) have a maximum useful load which is divided between passengers, pilot, baggage and fuel. To carry more of one thing there must be less of another. The operations department needs to know these weights in order to make sure the aircraft is properly loaded and within its maximum weight envelope. How much luggage can we bring? In most situations, 40 lbs. per person can be carried aboard a Fly BVI charter. If there are any luggage restrictions, our reservations staff will inform you of them. Can we bring our wind surfers, scuba tanks, etc.?Any large, heavy or potentially hazardous objects or materials must be discussed with the office in advance of the charter. We can specially configure our aircraft to carry windsurfers, surfboards and other sports equipment. How will we find our charter connection in San Juan, Antigua, etc.?Meeting instructions are always arranged in advance with the charter party. Passengers may be given directions to our desk in the San Juan International Airport where our station manager awaits them. In Antigua, passengers are met by our ground personnel as they deplane from their connecting flight. This is especially convenient as they are taken to the front of the immigration line and are then first to claim their baggage. At other destinations, the passengers are met at a specified location by their pilot who has a sign with the party name on it. How do we know Fly BVI will show up?That's what Fly BVI does. We pride ourselves on providing our charter guests with a superior level of service at every step of the air charter process. How can we pay for an air charter flight? We accept credit cards, international money orders, wire transfers and checks. In order to hold a charter, Fly BVI must have a valid credit card or receive full payment thirty days before the charter. Are there cancellation penalties?Yes. Fly BVI's cancellation policy during Regular Season is: 15 days 100% / 16-30 days 75% / 31-45 days 50% / 46-60 days 25% / prior to 60 days 10% For December and January charters, we require payment 90 days prior to the charter date. 50% of the payment is non-refundable upon booking. Our normal cancellation policy applies to the remainder; 15 days 100% / 16-30 days 75% / 31-45 days 50% / 46-60 days 25% / prior to 60 days 10% |
