Fly BVI's Favorite Anchorages

Anticipate your coming charter while viewing these photographs of our favorite anchorages by photographer Jim Scheiner of Rainbow Visions Photography on Tortola.

Road Harbour

No journey through the BVI would be complete without at least an afternoon spent amid the old world charm and new world bustle of Roadtown. Enjoy a cappuccino at Capriccio di Mare for a taste of true Caribbean cosmopolitan.

Norman Island & the Willi T.

A great first stop on any cruise is the Bight on Norman Island. The Treasure Caves are around the corner and just to the west of the Caves is superb snorkeling on Sandy's Reef, a rookery to hundreds of species of reef fish. Sunset drinks at the Willi T are a must 'been there, done that', but do beware the body shot.

Peter Island - Little Harbour

Do at least one charter in summer so you can have Little Harbour to yourself. Looking west, the sun sets in the Narrows between St. John and Tortola. Fire up the barbecue and enjoy perfect peace.

Salt Island - The Settlement

Anchor off the Settlement and dinghy around to dive or snorkel the RMS Rhone. The Rhone, a 310 foot long sailing, steamer, went down in the hurricane of October 29, 1867, and has been entertaining divers  almost ever since.

Cooper Island - Manchioneel Bay

Arrive early afternoon for a good mooring and tell Cris Tilling at the Cooper Island Resort that Fly BVI sent you. The food at the resort is great, the view spectacular, the Pain Killer as named. You know what to do. Enjoy!

Virgin Gorda - The Baths

It can be crowded, but it shouldn't be missed. Be the only one on your boat to know that Baths is short for Batholith. Contact Fly BVI for details.

North Sound

What can you say about North Sound? It's where the cruise east ends and the one west begins. It's the place to re-provision for the passage to Anegada. It's memories of great friends and great meals and great nights ashore. What else is there?

Anegada - Setting Point

Reach off to Anegada to discover the best kept of Nature's Little Secrets. Enjoy the best beaches, the best lobster and the nicest people in the Caribbean. Contact Fly BVI to book an Anegada Day Trip.

Sandy Spit

The lunch stop of the stars. Surrounded by water the lightest of blue, small enough to walk around in minutes, it's the perfect picnic spot for a crowd of two.

Jost van Dyke - Great Harbour

Don't leave the BVI without a stop at Foxy's. It would be unseamanlike. Come for the big parties at New Year and Memorial Day, but have your anchoring technique together - space is tight! Or come any day and declare your own special occasion.

Tortola - Soper's Hole

It's time to start thinking about presents to take back home. Check out Zenaida and Pusser's Company Store for the souvenir du jour. And (this is no small secret) the Jolly Roger may actually make the finest cheeseburger in paradise.

Secluded BVI

The great thing about the BVI is that even in the high season there are enough secluded anchorages to go around. The more you sail here, the more you'll discover. Don't miss the special spots like Muskmelon Bay on Guana Island and Lee Bay on Great Camanoe and as one thing leads to another, pretty soon you will have your own secret places.
